A new feature for paid subscribers—a round-up of some recent news items and essays of feminist concern and interest
After such a big reaction to yesterday’s post, on the harms of third party indifference in the face of second party wrongdoing—to girls and women, in particular—I had an idea. And I’m now piloting this idea as a regular bonus feature for paid subscribers to this newsletter: I want to create a space to link to stories, articles, and essays on items of feminist concern and interest. (I welcome your tips, of course, in the comments, as to what I might include next time.) I’m giving it a somewhat playful name, to acknowledge the fact that this form of bearing witness on the internet has strict limitations. But it is not nothing. And we need, when we have the bandwidth, to continue to pay attention. This will hopefully become a way to honor those who deserve our collective concern, care, rage, and also to discuss ways we might provide concrete material assistance to victims when appropriate.
