Melani Sanders, 45, does not care about arm fat. She also does not care about painting her toe nails, smoothing her edges, or whether her three children ate all their vegetables. She is the spontaneous, and genius, founder of the “We Do Not Care Club” on TikTok, which has amassed more than a million followers. It is full of women—most perimenopausal or menopausal—who have decided not to care either about what our culture tells us to do, be, or look like. And in a country that is not only crumbling, but treats women more than ever as a human social safety net, the radical feminist power of not caring can scarcely be underestimated. “It feels liberating just to free my mind from caring so much about things that don’t truly matter,” said Sanders in an interview.

Melani Sanders, wearing a bright pink robe, holds up a notebook with a blue pen cap in her mouth. She is wearing glasses on her head, eyes, and holds a pair in her hands.
