The dress is great; definitely wear it. (You look wonderful, BTW.)
I always borrow from the library and asked them today to (please) order this book. They already have, Entitled, and I raved about Down Girl, hoping they will add it.
I do not know anything about pre-publication jitters, but I remember pre-trial jitters (and hated them), so the usual: sleep, eat, hydrate and breathe. Then, be you; you are more than enough and will surely blow them away with your intelligence, your humanness and your knowledge.
If you come to New Orleans I will happily drive down the Interstate to see you!
Just pre-ordered! I'm going to fan girl all over you on January 22 when you are at the Harvard Book Store!! Our books are "twinning." Nurture is also in print on January 9 and a similar theme -- though the audience is parents and caregivers. My goal is also to change the conversations around food and bodies for the next generation. Let me know if you'd like to collaborate in some way, even virtually... I've been immersed in book tour plans, too, but I'm an indie author, so my venues are little funky independent bookstores in New England. So excited to read your book! Don't ever apologize for promoting your very important voice and work. Thanks for letting us know how to support your book launch. Woo Hoo!
Kate, I'm super excited to read it! Is it too late to get an advance reader copy and review the book?
By the way, I saw your quote in the NYTimes piece on Oprah (I wrote a bit about it myself: https://www.almostsated.com/p/oprah-weight-loss-injectibles). It's unfortunate they didn't mention the book by name or give you more space in the conversation. It felt a little like they needed someone from the "anti-diet space" and then just gave minimal play.
Kate, I have pre-ordered several copies. Can't wait to read it!
Other than give them to people to read, anything you think will help? Should I give them to a library (I'll get my mom to ask for it to be ordered first as she does this a lot; I just acquire late-return fines).
I just pre-ordered from my local store. Very excited. The Midwest often gets short shrift on book tours, but Grand Rapids, MI, has a thriving independent bookstore, Schuler’s. Please come read there! We are home to a large state university & several smaller private schools—a highly educated community of avid readers. (An international airport too.)
Please come west, Ms. Professor.
California is not a cultural wasteland.
You would be welcomed with open arms.
So exciting!! I'll come on the 24th or 26th for sure :)
So so pleased by all of this. So proud of you, Kate.
My dear friend, Kate,
The dress is great; definitely wear it. (You look wonderful, BTW.)

Amazing, can't wait to read it! And maybe you'll visit Canada at some point :)

I've pre-ordered, Kate. Will you come and speak in Australia? Preferably Melbourne? Ever? I'd love to see you here.
Besides which, Aussie Aussie Aussies positively adore the (Southern) California Sun!
Yes, there is a little bit more to the USA than forebodingly gloomy, winter dominated Ivy League campuses...🤓
Spoken by someone who toiled quite anonymously in the literal bowels of the Harvard University library system for 3 years, BTW.
I'm a fellow Ithacan and am fangirling from across campus!
I've never been to a book tour - I assume the etiquette is to buy the book there rather than pre-order?

Great keynote at Cornell! I really like your concept of body reflexivity.

Kate will you be attending the Swiftposium at Melbourne Uni?
So excited for this book!!!
